Truth: Yung Naij gyal….. Wondering………..!!!

Often time i wonder and ponder…..

.....what are my thoughts and where do I stand when I hear Africa is corrupt, greedy, underdeveloped,….I still wonder if they mean the geographical landmass or they are referring to the inhabitants of the region, regardless of the fact that Nigeria (my homeland) is oil rich and has the 47th largest economy in the world (as at the last time I checked)….now I dare say for every year since independence, (we will be 50 in a couple months time).

In my opinion, I describe our situation as taking one step up the ladder of development, and two steps down the rung of poverty, lack of collective foresight, greed and corruption.

Allowing my scientific self to analyze the situation, I would like to make some assumptions……

If we say the people who inhabit Nigeria are the corrupt and anti-development prone ones then that translates that the structure and administration of the country is fine and on the flip side, if the impasse is in the citizenry, this translates that if you take them to another country, you will be guaranteed of the results. A Zebra can never loose its strips…..dats one of the major features of the Zebra (in this case Nigeria)…DO THE MATHS….

……………So I hope you see the picture. Moving on, if you agree with my premise that means the problem with Nigeria is in the minds of the people, ……..yes I am talking to you if you are Nigerian, by birth or even by association…..…

Thoughts have been floating around in your head…yeah I know…same with me…..what should the next step be, what is, why should and how can we find a lasting solution to this problem,

Now the other question…..who is most affected by this turn of events….who is going to deal with the fall back of this situation….I guess that would be the folks around and active in the next 30 to 40 years

Truth is, if we confront our destiny face to face and stop these older and dogged folks from sowing seeds of hatred, violence and corruption in our future then we can at least invest some time and effort into taking baby steps towards a sustainable future for ourselves and our kids yet unborn.

…..They (don’t ask me who) have either sold or mortgaged our feature, I don't give a hoot who you are or how much affluence ur folks have left you, all I know is that if you are a hindrance to the development train heading towards Nigeria, then you are the ENEMY….(there are definitely more subtle, nonviolent and definitely lasting ways of dealing with you)

One thing I am sure of is that a person is not measured based on what they have inherited but on what they have built.

It is sad that the IN-THING now is going away….coming from a sister in the Diaspora, I CANT WAIT TO GO HOME…..I have only been away for 20 months now and I only planned to be gone for only 12 months, do pursue a masters in a course that some see an unrealistic (Peace and Reconciliation Studies)….frankly speaking, I think its high time we started to learn about peace as a means to sustainable livelihood…(Anyho, dats gist for another time).
Dats me in my organised chaos though pattern, starting to deviate from the main issue….

O.K Salta…stay with us on planet earth…..Earth to Salta…..

……Well back to the main koko of the situation, Nigerian youths now see GOING ABROAD….as a measurement of success….well breaking news,……. IT IS NOT, so wake up and smell the air of trading your quality of life for a new extra bucks (seemingly )….dats if you are left with any money when the tax man is done with you…..

Dont be myopic...read this

In OUR (Nigerian youths in the Diaspora) defence, when there is no organised structure to cater for the basic needs of a graduate that has responsibilities and wants to begin the ascension to the realm of self sufficiency…..it is no wonder they take the seemingly extra bucks abroad in exchange for a comfortable quality based lifestyle.

SO WHATS THE POINT….I just want to get you thinking….
So now that I am done talking, you need to start thinking,,, ….what is the next line of action yeah….well I am still developing myself for the feat that is before every youth of this generation….TRUTH, CHOICES and CHANGES….what are you doing???????

Consequentially, these are my suggestions…..

We………….. (off course I talking to the youths and youths at heart), we would need to wager something for our future….come back home and lets tackle the webs……….., clear out all the webs of negativity, poverty, greed, corruption, brain drain and violence….as the list goes on……

Oh yeah….tiny drops make an ocean, we don’t need a large crowd to do this, all we need is the effort of determined minds….

Change a persons mind and you change their attitude,
Change their attitude and you change their lifestyle….
Change their lifestyle and you change their behaviour…
Change their behaviour and you change their LIFE….

As a Nigerian, young in age and young at heart, see your reflection in the mirror and start the though process towards building this great country, I have a Nigerian dream and very soon, it will become reality. My dream transcends tribe or ethnicity, age or religion, my core of my dream is our heart, it starts by telling the truth towards making a change…..

Salta loves…

Truth is change and change is truth………
